FRANK BARNARD WITH HIS SON                #1

Frank Barnard boarded with her, he recalls:

“Fanny Voss – she would have to be real favourite of mine – what a woman!
A great worker and battler – her house was made of railway sleepers on the outskirts of town.
Her two daughters Quona and Marlene were beautiful girls and well dresses – I think her son’s name was John, her husband was probably away at the war.
To go to her place was a treat – she had the top tier of her wedding cake in a glass case – to be cut on her 25th wedding anniversary.
We often had Weet Bix at her place topped with honey and thick cream. Lovely. She often killed snakes in and around her house and once had to fight off a large kangaroo which cornered her in the yard.
What a woman!”
